Smallpox disease was eradicated in 1977, but because smallpox virus could be used as an agent of bioterrorism,
health-care providers should familiarize themselves with the disease and the vaccine that prevents it. On the program "Smallpox:
What Every Clinician Should Know," specialists discuss methods designed to improve
health-care providers' ability to
recognize, diagnose, and report smallpox disease. The program may be viewed on the Internet or on videotape, and
continuing education credits (CEU, CNE, CME, and CHES) are offered until the end of 2003.
