On December 2, 2011, former ÐÇ¿ÕÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Director Thomas R. Frieden, MD, MPH, activated ÐÇ¿ÕÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø's Emergency Operations Center to strengthen the agency's partnership engagement through the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI).
The GPEI is committed to completing the eradication of polio.
