Overview

Publication criteria were assessed based on data submitted to ÐÇ¿ÕÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø's National Program of Cancer Registries and the National Cancer Institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program in 2024. Criteria must be met for all diagnosis years for the combined 2018 to 2022 data. Segments of a registry's data may be suppressed when that information is found to be unstable or does not meet the publication criteria.

Population coverage by diagnosis years

The following registries met U.S. Cancer Statistics publication criteria during each year it has been published:

• 2018 to 2022 (5 years combined): All registries met the publication criteria for all years during this 5-year period. Counts and rates cover 100% of the U.S. population.
• 1999 to 2022 (24-year trend): All registries met the publication criteria for all years during 1999 to 2022 except Mississippi (2002). Data are not available for Mississippi (1999 to 2001) and South Dakota (1999 to 2000). Counts and rates cover approximately 99.8% of the U.S. population.
• 2003 to 2022 (single years): All registries met the publication criteria for each year from 2003 to 2022. Counts and rates cover 100% of the U.S. population.
• 2002: All registries except Mississippi met the publication criteria. Counts and rates cover approximately 99% of the U.S. population.
• 2001: All registries met the publication criteria; data are not available for Mississippi. Counts and rates cover approximately 99% of the U.S. population.
• 1999 and 2000: All registries met the publication criteria; data are not available for Mississippi and South Dakota. Counts and rates cover approximately 99% of the U.S. population.
