Completing Lost and Found missions in HELL-A offers some of the most rewarding gear for players exploring the dangerous coastal streets. Among these scavenger hunts, the Fool's Gold quest stands out as an engaging tracking mission that takes you across the Santa Monica Pier. By deciphering a trail of hidden journals and phone messages, slayers can uncover a secret stash containing legendary loot.
Starting the Mission at Santa Monica Pier
To begin this quest, you must first reach the Lifeguard HQ area located along Santa Monica Beach. Near the HQ building, you will encounter a special named Crusher zombie named Dante. Eliminating Dante causes him to drop a note titled A Totally Legit Letter, which officially initiates the mission.
After reading the note, head inside the nearby Lifeguard HQ building to locate Randy's locker. Open the locker positioned on the left side of the hallway to retrieve your next piece of evidence. This journal entry reveals that a valuable safe is hidden nearby, but you will need two separate combination codes to unlock it.
Tracking Down the Safe Combination Codes
Your search for the first code leads down to the end of the pier near the iconic Ferris Wheel. Navigate behind the yellow and blue ice cream shop to find a phone resting on a wooden bench. Collecting this item secures the first portion of the safe combination.
To obtain the second code, travel toward the northern edge of the map where several shops line the strip. Locate the narrow alleyway next to the Merry-Go-Round Mystery Cafe and grab the burner phone off the ground. Be prepared for a fight, as picking up this item immediately spawns a wave of aggressive undead enemies.
Unlocking the Buried Safe and Claiming Rewards
With both parts of the combination in hand, return to the exterior perimeter of the Lifeguard HQ building. Search the sandy area near the side wall until you locate a dark safe partially buried in the ground. Before you can open it, you must clear out all surrounding zombies that dig themselves out of the sand.
Once the area is secure, interact with the safe to claim your valuable spoils. Opening the chest rewards players with the Blood Rage legendary dagger along with a substantial amount of XP. This fast-striking weapon causes severe bleed damage, making it a top-tier choice for critical hit combat builds.
