This page provides information about ÐÇ¿ÕÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø tribal health data, issues, tools, technical assistance, and training, as well as tribal data-related resources from public health partners. ÐÇ¿ÕÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø will engage further with tribes and tribal organizations to improve these resources and provide the data most needed to protect and improve the health of American Indians and Alaska Natives.

Technical Assistance and Tools

  • ÐÇ¿ÕÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) - National effort to create modern, integrated, and real-time public health data and surveillance that can protect the nation from any health threat.   • ÐÇ¿ÕÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Disaster Epidemiology - Provides resources on morbidity and mortality surveillance, rapid needs assessments such as the Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response (CASPER), and disaster epidemiologic studies
  • ÐÇ¿ÕÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Epi Aids - Provides short-term epidemiologic assistance of ÐÇ¿ÕÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø's Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) officers to respond to urgent public health problems, such as unexplained illnesses, infectious disease outbreaks, and post-hurricane effects.
  • ÐÇ¿ÕÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Public Health Law Program (PHLP) - PHLP develops law-related tools and provides legal technical assistance to public health practitioners and policymakers in state, tribal, local, and territorial jurisdictions
  • ÐÇ¿ÕÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Surveillance Resource Center - Provides members of the public health surveillance community organized, easy access to guidance developed by ÐÇ¿ÕÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø and its partners for improving the practice of surveillance
  • Community Health Assessment & Health Improvement Planning - Provides information and guidance to assist state, tribal, local, and territorial health departments in developing community health assessments and health improvement plans
  • Provides information about the Subcommittee, which consists of epidemiologists and others working with American Indians/Alaska Natives in state, local, territorial, and tribal health agencies and epidemiology centers
  • Health Hazard Evaluation Program - Provides information and resources to help employees, unions, and employers recognize and control health hazards in their workplace. Evaluations are done at no cost to the employees, unions, or employers
  • Serves as a resource center for individuals and organizations dedicated to improving the health of American Indians and Alaska Natives living in urban areas, including providing tribal data-related education, technical assistance, and training
  • Free, online resource—developed with support from ÐÇ¿ÕÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø—that offers practical guidance for tribes and Native-serving organizations on obtaining and sharing health data
  • 2022 summit focused on how to use data and new technologies to improve public health and wellness; includes links to a recording of the summit, an overview, and relevant resources
  • TECs serve American Indian/Alaska Native tribal and urban communities by managing public health information systems, investigating diseases of concern, managing disease prevention and control programs, responding to public health emergencies, and coordinating these activities with other public health authorities
